SCX Compact DTM Test

All I can say is WOW!
These cars look really terrific. Great body detail along with the wheels and tires that set a new standard in 1/43d.

I immediately removed the chassis and lubed everything well and checked tires for any need of truing. They were very round.
No, the front tire "problem" is not solved, but these are more like the F1's and just about touch the track. Notice the plastic axles.

Without further "tuning" I set the power at 12V (SCX's voltage for Compacts) and let 'er rip. With these ultra light, well detailed bodies, and good magnet settings right from the factory they were really consistent, good handlers. Power was lacking, but after a few laps that picked up, some. Remember, I'm used to 15-16V, though.
After establishing how fine these cars are, right out of the box, I again removed the chassis, adjusted the internal contact strips, trimmed the guide pin base, and lowered the magnet about 1mm or less. Refitting the bodies, I cranked the power up to 16V. With the front wheels setting much lower and the magnet really pulling, the cars screamed out of the pits and proceeded to lap very quickly, the 6.8 to 6.85 second range. Compare that to the SCX/Carrera Proxy!

This is a great jump from the Tuners for SCX Compact and now SCX will give a good run to the new Carrera DTM's at 15V with these minor adjustments, I'm sure. Plus SCX beat Carrera out of the gate. And they set low, like a real DTM, not set up for acrobatic displays.
I will post pictures here this evening showing in detail what I did, so check back and see how easy it is to have an ADAC DTM race at your track.
